Vincent Willem van Gogh (niderl. Vincent Willem van Gogh; 30 March 1853, Groot-Zundert, near Breda, Netherlands — July 29, 1890, Auvers-sur-Oise, France) Dutch post-impressionist artist whose work had a timeless effect on painting of the 20th century.
For ten years he produced more than 2,100 artworks, including about 860 oil paintings. Among them — portraits, self-portraits, landscapes, still lifes, olive trees, cypresses, wheat fields and sunflowers. Most critics did not notice the van Gogh before his suicide at the age of 37 years, preceded by years of anxiety, poverty and mental disorders.
