Lucia Heffernan
Born in Taiwan in 1966, Lucia was inspired to draw at a very early age by her mother, a watercolor artist and teacher. In the early 1990s, after graduating with honors from Binghamton University with a degree in Fine Arts and Design, she founded LDD, a multi-million-dollar award-winning creative design agency. Lucia moved to Utah in 2000, where her creative focus shifted from digital design to oil painting.
Her paintings demonstrate her strength in graphic design and reflect her love for animals. "My works are made in the style of modern realism. I want animals to jump out of the canvas, but I also love the energy of abstract paintings. I often focus on the object and create an abstract background to enhance the focus."
In her latest series of paintings, animals are used as metaphors to depict the bizarre and charming moments we encounter every day. "I like to portray the twists and turns that make our life stories a little more interesting."
Lucia has won numerous local and national competitions, and her work is widely represented in the western United States. She is a member of the American Oil Painters and the Society of Animal Artists.
