Edgar Degas
Edgar Degas( 19 July 1834, Paris - 27 September 1917) was a French painter, one of the most prominent representatives of the impressionist movement .
Degas was a clear perfectionist, reaching in his passion for perfect harmony to the point of losing the sense of reality. Already at the beginning of his long career, Degas was an artist who, as they joked, only by selecting a picture, you could stop working on it.
The basis of his work was portraiture, but Degas also paid much attention to historical paintings. While in Italy, Degas painted a number of portraits depicting members of his family. After that, for several years, the portrait remained one of his strong Hobbies, alternating with historical themes.
