Peter V. basin (1793-1877), honored Professor of religious, historical and portrait painting, student of Professor V. K. Shebuev . Spent 11 years in Rome (out of hundreds of his paintings of that time, the best belong to the Academy); recognized as an academician for the picture: "Socrates saves Alcibiades"; in 1836 he received the title of Professor. B. wrote many portraits, allegorical figures that adorn the halls of the Winter Palace; but his fame was created mainly by works in the field of religious painting. It is remarkable written by him on the half-dome above the altar of the academic Church: "The descent of the Holy spirit on the apostles". He wrote up to 40 images and religious paintings for St. Isaac's Cathedral. His works are, among other things, in the Museum of Emperor Alexander III, in the Tretyakov gallery, at Prince B. Shcherbatov in St. Petersburg.
