B. Kliban

Kliban was born in Norwalk, Connecticut, studied at the Pratt Institute and at Cooper University, but "dropped out of school". He painted and traveled around Europe before moving to California, where he lived in the North Beach area of San Francisco. He did freelance advertising illustrations, drew advertisements, logos and annual reports. While living in North Beach, Hap began drawing cartoons for Playboy magazine .
